How the words influence our feelings

Our words influence our feelings very deeply.

I have a lot of clients coming for sessions. People often tell me that they do not want to feel sad. OR, they do not want to be fearful. And whenever they say this, they actually mean to communicate that they wish to be happy.

And then I ask them that if they don’t wish to feel sad, then what it is that they want to feel. If you don’t want to be fearful, then what it is that you want to feel instead. And when they change their statement that they want to feel happy or feel strong, their body language changes, their whole personality changes, and they start smiling.

In the same way, people tell me that they have to lose weight, OR, they have to be happy, they have to exercise, they have to quit smoking” etc…

They do not realize that the words “HAVE TO” tie them in rules & regulations. You know WHY? Because we have been listening from our parents since childhood:

“you have to clean your room”.

Because we have been listening from our teachers:

“you have to do your homework”.

OR from the society:

“you have to be a good person” etc…

So, the words ‘I have to’ or ‘you have to’ tie us into rules & regulations. As humans our basic instinct is not to be trapped in the rules & regulations.

If we choose to do something we feel in command.

That’s why I tell my clients, always use the words; ‘I CHOSE TO;

’I chose to be happy’

‘I chose to lose weight’

‘I chose to exercise’

‘I chose to be a non-smoker etc…

As soon as we make a choice, we are not only happily ready to fulfill it, but also free ourselves from those rules and regulations.

Such is the power of communication.

Such is the power of words.

With the right words, with the right communication, we can completely change our whole personality… we can bring positive influence in our lives…

Our country has a beautiful and colorful blend of different cultures, traditions and festivals. We speak different languages, follow different customs but in our hearts, we know we are all ONE. As a nation, we believe in unity in diversity. India is the birthplace to spirituality and many great spiritual Gurus and masters. Many of us have grown up listening to our grandparents and parents telling us, through stories and tales and fables, that all of us have the same soul – the same energy or that same powerful God particle – radiating within each one of us.

On this Republic Day, let’s tap into that divine energy inside, and affirm in our hearts to join hands and come together as one to make India a more prosperous and healthier nation – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Every person – men, women all alike – should be educated, literate, evolved, wise enough to use that education correctly for the betterment of our society, enlightened, peaceful, respectful, honest, loving and kind. This is the only way we can all coexist harmoniously. Let’s at least TRY to build a better future for all of us, by building a better nation.

Peaceful nations make peaceful continents make a peaceful world… make a peaceful universe… and THAT is the ultimate goal. It is about time we realize that.

This is the month of January, and our students are preparing for their Board Examinations or Final Examinations. They have great expectations from themselves. They also have the pressure for getting good marks. Even their parents have high expectations from their kids.

That’s why, most of the school going kids start suffering from anxiety and tension when they see that the dates of their examinations are coming closer. They become nervous and fearful about their performance in the examinations despite working hard and preparing in the best possible way. Even, sometimes, those kids start doubting on themselves that they cannot clear the exams with good percentage. And how will they get admission in a good college if they will not get good marks in their examinations?

In this situation, the most needed is to increase self-confidence, improve concentration and right mental attitude so that these kids can excel and do best in the examinations. This confidence and right mental attitude can be developed by understanding and developing the power of mind.

Hypnotherapy empowers you to do whatever you want to do, by loading your subconscious mind with positive ideas and clearing it from all the negative conditionings. And obviously, when there are so many positives, how can there even be any space for the negatives?

World Hypnotism Day

Today is 4th January – the International Day of Hypnotism. The purpouse to celebrate this day is to remove people’s misconceptions about hypnotherapy and tell them about the benefits of this therapy. Most people confuse Hypnotherapy with “MIND CONTROL” or “STAGE HYPNOSIS”.

People sometimes say, jokingly of course, “Oh! am I under your spell right now? Have you hypnotized me?” Some people think that Hypnotherapy is a truth serum. So, let me tell you that Hypnotherapy is not a truth serum. Recently someone called me and said “I want to book a session for my wife, as I think that she has an extra marital relationship. I want to know the truth”. I replied “NO! We don’t do that kind of things. We are here to help you, to heal your issues, not to do such senseless things”.

Hypnotherapy is a life-changing opportunity in a positive way. It helps people to solve their issues in their day to day life. It has helped many people, coming from different walks of life, to heal several issues. The Critical Factor

Hypnotherapy works wonders to resolve many issues related to our day to day life. During hypnosis, the critical Factor relaxes. With the relaxation of critical Factor, a communication between the conscious and subconscious mind takes place. This communication allows for positive and beneficial suggestions, ideas and information to be accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind. And this is what we aim to do as Hypnotherapists.

Now the question is “what is the Critical Factor and what is the role of critical factor in resolving our issues?”

Critical factor, develops by the age of ten, works like a gatekeeper or checkpoint to the subconscious. Located between the conscious and the subconscious mind, it compares any new incoming ideas or information with the already existing ideas of the subconscious mind and resolves if the current information matches with the recognized patterns of the subconscious mind, or if it should be sent back to the conscious mind for further inspection.

Once this state has been achieved and the communication between conscious and subconscious mind has been established, positive ideas and suggestions are then given to the people or, as I like to say, co-therapist. Because of this direct communication between conscious and subconscious, the co-therapist easily accepts and starts acting upon those suggestions and positive transformations take place.

This is Hypnotherapy, or “healing through hypnosis”.

Accomplish your goal

Every-one wants to achieve his or her goal. Every-one needs accomplishment in life. But for this, you must know your current status, you have to know where you are right now and from there – where you want to go – what your goal is. Understanding HYPNO-Therapy

Hypnotherapy is a practice that people are still trying to understand and explore. Majority of the people still don’t know the usage of it. So, it is normal for them to ask me what it is that I really do. Most people confuse Hypnotherapy with mind control or stage hypnosis and even sometimes say, jokingly of course, “Oh! am I under your spell right now? Have you hypnotized me?”

In one of my previous articles I wrote about what Hypnotherapy is not, by clearing out some myths about the practice. It only seems fit that I now briefly describe what Hypnotherapy is and what it is that I do in my sessions. I hope this write-up helps you in understanding the subject a little better. Please read on.

Let me start by telling you what is “hypnosis” – it is a natural, yet altered, relaxed state of body and mind with many beneficial characteristics. It is “natural” in the sense that we experience a relaxed state of body and mind several times during the day. Like, when we wake up and are aware of being awake, but are comfortably lying down in the bed – because everyone loves those snoozy-lazy five more minutes! Or, like the times when we are day dreaming. The body and mind are so relaxed that we let our imagination leave the four walls of our office cabin or classroom or conference room and run wild and free – skydiving sometimes, getting an Oscar sometimes. There are many other times that we experience a naturally relaxed state of body and mind, that is hypnosis.

It is “altered” a little when we have to use that state for therapy purposes – in the sense that, instead of experiencing it naturally, I help my clients to slowly become relaxed in body and mind by using certain (easy to understand and follow) techniques. And it feels as comfortable as lying down in your bed for 5 more minutes after hitting the snooze button, or as easy and calm as day dreaming. You are aware of everything that is happening around you, you are in complete control, you can switch from that state at your will… But you are not, willingly, letting any of it affect you or bother you in any way. In the state of hypnosis you simply allow and give yourself the permission to become and feel relaxed and rested.

Using that naturally relaxed state of body and mind – called HYPNOSIS – for THERAPY purposes to help heel people’s emotional, mental and physical issues – that’s what HYPNO-THERAPY is about. No, it is not mind control and is nowhere close to stage hypnosis. It is an extremely useful and beneficial practice that can heal so much.

Letting Go

Sometimes ‘letting go’ is so important, as it may be the only choice you have. You must have often heard people saying to you “let go of this feeling/emotion/relationship/job/person etc., it is not worth your worries/attention/tears/love”, to which your response usually must have been “what do you know? It is easier said than done!”… Ah! And now you are probably smiling thinking back in time! But yes, letting go is sometimes really important – maybe because it is the only choice you have or, maybe, because holding on is causing you or others more hurt, pain or burden.

Let us talk about, as an example, letting go of a relationship that once meant a lot to you. It could be with a very dear friend or a special someone. At some point you realize that this relationship is giving you more pain than the joy you once expected it would. Or you realize that you are doing each other more harm than good by being together. Or you realize that you, or the other person, have lost interest or the spark that there once was. Or you realize that it is, put simply, ‘not meant to be’. Whatever your realization is, now you know that the only choice, or probably the best thing to do, is to ‘let go’. But because of the feelings involved, or the emotions invested, you are finding it hard to do so.

One of the reasons for this inability in letting go could be that, unfortunately – thanks to the commercial cinema, especially romantic comedies, they make everything appear so much larger than life really is, even basic human emotions! –, people have formed unrealistic ideas about letting go and moving on with life. Letting go does not necessarily have to end up with people landing in nightclubs hooking up with strangers or in bars with their friends dancing and singing “life is so much fun now that I have moved on” THE VERY NEXT DAY. Although the choice is really yours as to how you want this to be. ‘Letting go’ is a very gentle, peaceful process of pure love and forgiveness towards others and oneself… and the journey begins inwards.

You may ask “how can there be love and forgiveness if the idea is to just let go?” You may be surprised, but love and forgiveness are at the foundation level of this process. Having feelings of revenge, hatred, loathing, envy or disgust means that you are still holding on to it – whatever the ‘it’ may be in your case.
